Jumbled & Eben Dennis "Hit It Out of The Park" with CodyCodyJones, Sarah FM & Swampwalk-assisted ORSULAK EP (Harford Reckord Tapes)

We've been repping Jumbled AKA John Bachman here at The Witzard ever since his 2018 release, [I wish it was longer] or simply, WIWL . Self-described as "somewhere between Madlib & Mike Watt," the teacher, husband, father, beat-maker, dish-washer has been nothing short of productive these last four years. Bachman is a huge component in both the Baltimore and East Coast Hip-Hop music scenes and has, personally, been a great ally here at The Witzard. Jumbled has released action shots ep, The Ghost of Len Bias with UllNevaNo , THE INSULT with Dwell as Bully Preston, Merry Christmess, YOU DON'T KNOW?!, You Best Not Miss with Lace Berriez , Padre, and August Heat all on his own imprint, Harford & Reckord Tapes since WIWL . His latest effort, ORSULAK , definitely doesn't disappoint either; here, Jumbled has joined forces once more with his long-time friend and collaborator, Eben Dennis , for something that's a little more Mike Watt-leaning than his t...

Jumbled Recruits ALASKA, Bully Preston, ialive, Luke Sick, Torito & More for Summer Comp. AUGUST HEAT (Harford & Reckord Tapes)

August Heat by Ialive John "Jumbled" Bachman was one of the many talented artists, writers, and Beastie Boys super-fans who contributed to our recent 3-part PB30 All-around Breakdown feature and now, he's returned with his second self-released full-length of 2019, AUGUST HEAT . Jumbled 's first long-form project since January 2019's Padre , AUGUST HEAT is just as it sounds: 17 tracks-worth of sweltering instrumental beats and emcee-assisted vocal tracks. "In early June, Jumbled compiled a list of his heat: heavy Boom-Bap beats that meshed together to create an album," explains a press release. John Bachman goes on to define "heat (noun)" as "1. hot beats / raps, 2. oppressively hot or humid weather, 3. pressure" and then, somehow, manages to reference a JAY-Z rhyme from "Light Up" alongside Drake: "Triple entendre, don't even ask me how." Although, originally conceived as a single-emcee affair, AUGUST...

The Witzard Presents: Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique 30th Anniversary All-around Breakdown, Part II (PB30 "Side B")

"attempted or done before. (The vinyl edition will have extra-copious multi-panel artwork in its first print only. Hey collectors!) "Yea, but who cares what it looks like. What about the tunes??!!" Not only is Paul's Boutique harder than their hysterical historical multi-platinum Licensed to Ill outing, but it's "deeper." The record is a never ending flow of freaky, left-field samples (everyone from the Beatles to Mountain to a bunch of obscure '70s funk that one's ever thought about biting) that sucks you in and then spits you out, leaving you punch-drunk and frenzied. The Dust Brothers (Matt Dike, John King, and Mike Simpson) have outdone themselves on the production front, and have given the record an earthy home grown aura. And the Boys themselves are in tip-top form. Check this: "I got more rhymes than J.D.'s got Salinger" (from "Shadrach"). Taking you, the listener, on a psychedelic mind-trip, the Beasties ...

Baltimore Grindcore Behemoths Constituents Unleash "GRIND NO DIE" Feat. 10 Recordings In Just 7 Minutes & Jumbled (100% DIY GRINDCORE)

GRIND NO DIE by Constituents A couple years ago, we did a feature on Baltimore -based Grindcore band Constituents AKA CNSTS' 2017 DEMO cassette and digital release here at The Witzard . However, over the course of the past year and a half, CNSTS have morphed from a 4-piece to a 3-piece now consisting of vocalist josé , guitarist/bassist clint. and drummer zap . Just yesterday, Constituents "quietly" returned, which is ironic, with their second proper digital release simply entitled GRIND NO DIE . It's a blistering 7-minute mix of Grindcore , Powerviolence, and Metal , which consists of 9 "micro-songs." It also, contains an "INTRO," as well as numerous interlude "skits" created by Baltimore beat-maker and friend of The Witzard , Jumbled AKA John Bachman . East Coast Grindcore die-hards and Hip-Hop heads will well know, however, that this isn't exactly Jumbled & clint. AKA salk. 's first time appearing on record to...

Jumbled Returns with PADRE Beat Tape Created In Honor of His Daughter & Teases "untitled." ORSULAK Demo (Harford & Reckord Tapes)

Padre by Jumbled It's been an exciting year and a half for John Bachman AKA Baltimore -based beat-maker Jumbled and his wife, Rachel . One day, The Bachmans got a call about potentially, adopting a little girl, so they immediately drove to Upstate New York and their lives, as they knew it, instantly changed forever. Upon their return back home to Baltimore with baby Lucy (LB) just a few short weeks later, Jumbled happily moved his records and equipment from Lucy 's new bedroom and into the home's guestroom. Thus, entering his aptly-named "Green Room" phase, which chronologically, started with YOU BEST NOT MISS EP with DC emcee, Lace Berriez from late last year. Padre consists of a barrage of beats Jumbled has painstakingly created and fine-tuned within the last 12 months or so in The "Green Room." Its content were primarily recorded during the early morning hours before LB would wake up or on the rare occasion Mrs. Bachman would go out...

"It's Bully Season:" Baltimore's Jumbled & Dwell Join Forces As Bully Preston for Rapper-producer Album THE INSULT (Full Album Review)

Let's Get Saucey Single by Bully Preston "I'm walkin' down the street mindin' my biz, just thinkin' about my wife and my kids and all the stupid sh*t I did when I was a kid. I pass this dude mean-muggin' - huh? The way he's lookin' kinda buggin' me - what? This motherf**ker tryin' to thug with me - what the f**k? Tryin' to invoke The Incredible Bully P . But I don't know, guess I'm beyond that; then again, a year ago, I was beyond Rap . But now, I'm back and it's all thanks to Jumbled Beats for makin' music for the mind. Designer. Sonic treats..." Dwell mercilessly rhymes on "Lovely Day to Bully;" the intro to THE INSULT , an album in collaboration with John Bachman as Bully Preston , quite simply billed as " Jumbled makes the beats / Dwell raps to them." Dwell & Jumbled 's Bully Preston project dates back as far as 2011 with then stand-alone single, "'llatio," ...
