Shadows of Tomorrow: DRO CUP's DARK SIDE OF THE DOOM Pink Floyd/DOOM Mash-up & Visual Album (MF DOOM Tribute)

MF DOOM Mixed-media Collage - GRAPHIC BY: Roy Christopher (@RoyChristopher) Honestly, it doesn't even feel like there's a proper way to elegize an eccentric and extremely talented artist such as MF DOOM, who meant so much to so many of us for so many years for so many different reasons as truly unique as DOOM himself. So, what better way to pay tribute to The Man, The Myth, THE MASK himself than by speaking to those closest to him? With a heavy heart, I proudly present Shadows of Tomorrow; a new recurring column in tribute to DOOM in an effort to re-tell the tall tales, strange stories, and lesser-known tidbits of The Metal Face Villain himself. R.I.P. Daniel "MF DOOM" Dumile Thompson. DARK SIDE OF THE DOOM by DRO CUP "Today is the day I finally get to share my visual album, DARK SIDE OF THE DOOM ([Pink] Floyd samples, DOOM bars) with you all. Pink Floyd & DOOM are two artists that have followed me around from when I was just a 10-year-old in 5th grad...

Two Minutes to Late Night Shares Music Videos for Every Time I Die & Cave In's Covers of Each Other's "Youth Overrided" & "Moor" (Splitsville Livestream)

Ever since this blasted COVID-19/Coronavirus-related pandemic started what feel like eons ago, Two Minutes to Late Night (2M2LN) have been assembling and recording a bunch of quarantine "bedroom" covers with a rotating cast of all-star Punk/Hardcore/Metal musicians. Creators Jordan Olds AKA Gwarsenio Hall & Drew "Hollywood" Kaufman have recorded and released something like 38 such super-covers. All of these have been made with the support of their fans, via Patreon, which helps to compensate out-of-work musicians still taking part within these fun videos through these trying times. Just this past January, 2M2LN launched a new socially distant/remotely-recorded web-series called Splitsville. Its first installment was a livestream event whenin, just as it sounds, we got a virtual split: Every Time I Die covering a Cave In song and Cave In returning the favor and covering an Every Time I Die song. Again, that all took place back on January 29, 2021 and it wa...

Quelle Chris Animates Music Video for The Alchemist-produced "Iron Steel Samurai" from Bushido Label-wide Comp. (Mello Music Group)

"Me & my friend @quellechrist got one for @mellomusicgroup compilation called Bushido. Animation by Quelle [Chris] 🔮" Alchemist (@alanthechemist) posted on Instagram Wednesday afternoon. Alchemist has been on quite a roll lately, having produced the entirety of billy woods & E L U C I D's latest beloved album, Haram, as Armand Hammer and his own Carry The Fire EP this year. Last year alone, The Alchemist released full-length projects with Boldy James, Freddie Gibbs, and Conway The Machine, as well as his own The Food Villain and A Doctor, A Painter & An Alchemist Walk Into A Bar all on his own ALC Records . While they have yet to release a full-length project together (but fingers crossed!) it appears as though Quelle Chris & The Alchemist have been friends or, at least, acquaintances since about 2013. Alchemist appears on Quelle Chris-produced "PRX" alongside Guilty Simpson from 2013 album, Ghost At The Finish Line. Being You Is Great,...

California Metalcore/Post-hardcore Revivalists SeeYouSpaceCowboy & if i die first Join Forces for "bloostainedeyes" from A Sure Disaster Split EP (Pure Noise Records)

SeeYouSpaceCowboy & if i die first are two California-based bands who are currently making, for lack of a better term, late 2000's MySpace/Hot Topic-era Metalcore & Post-hardcore revival music. SeeYouSpaceCowboy (SYSC) play a gritty, Grindy, Metallic, theatrical version of Screamo they're calling "Sasscore," not entirely unlike what you would have seen on Warped Tour during its heyday or heard blaring from the muffled speakers at your local mall's Hot Topic. SYSC hail from San Diego and consists of frontwoman Connie Sgarbossa, her brother and guitarist Ethan Sgarbossa, bassist Taylor Allen, and drummer A.J. Tartol. if i die first (IIDF) on the other hand, hail from Los Angeles and consists of John Villagran, Kevin O'Neill, Morgan Braden—better known as Lil' Lotus, Lil' Zubin & Nedarb Nagrom, respectively—Derek Bloom, and Travis Richter. A Sure Disaster by SeeYouSpaceCowboy / If I Die First IIDF's members have collectively played,...

Wavves Return with New Dave Sitek-produced Single "Sinking Feeling" & Colorful Music Video (Fat Possum Records)

CREDIT: Jesse Lirola Last night, without any prior wanrning, Wavves released a brand new song to Bandcamp, Spotify, and other like-minded digital streaming services. "Sinking Feeling" is, actually, Wavves' first proper single since their 2017 album, You're Welcome and their first with Fat Possum Records since 2010's King of The Beach. Last we heard from Wavves, they were actively planning a KING OF THE BEACH 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY TOUR, but that, like most things, was cancelled, re-scheduled to 10-11/2020, and has now, seemingly, been postponed indefinitely. Wavves' current line-up now consists of Nathan Williams, Stephen "Stevie" Pope , Alex Gates, and Ross Traver formerly of Culture Abuse. For lack of a better term, Wavves have always kinda been one of those "buzz" bands who have remained very popular within the Indie Rock blog circuits; frontman Nathan Williams even has/had a number of side-projects including both Spirit Club & Sweet...

Mike Park's The Bruce Lee Band Returns with Politically-charged Song "Division In The Heartland" from New Album/EP (Asian Man Records)

The Bruce Lee Band 2021 Line-up (CREDIT: @supercoolnstuff) The Bruce Lee Band is a long-standing Ska/Punk band from the mind of Asian Man Records' founder and former Skankin' Pickle sax player Mike "Bruce Lee" Park. Since his time spent with Skankin' Pickle between about 1989-97, Park has spent time playing with The Chinkees, KEMURI, Kitty Kat Fan Club, Maguma Taishi, Ogikubo Station, and one-off Shaken 69. The Bruce Lee Band's various iterations through the years have all primarily featured Mike Park, along with various bands acting as his backing band, including Less Than Jake, RX Bandits, and Death Rosenstock. Thus, the most recent line-up of The Bruce Lee Band consists of Mike Park, along with Jeff Rosenstock, Dan Potthast & Kevin "The Guch" Higuchi. In 2019, The Bruce Lee Band returned with their first proper release since 2014's Everything Will Be Alright, My Friend, a 12-inch/digital EP entitled Rental!! Eviction!! Division In The...

PURE HEEL Group Chat-style Text Interview with Doughy Ramone, The Claw, The Mangler, Captain Annoying & The Boy (Irish Voodoo Records)

@pureheel 🐃 Buffalo Hardcore 💪 (SOURCE: @irishvoodoorecords) PURE HEEL makes feverish, brashly unfiltered, unadultured, unapologetic, unabashed Wrestling-inspired Punk/Hardcore music. Not unlike SPAZZ, Los Crudos, Ultramantis Black, The Ultimate Warriors, God's Hate, F*CKED UP, The Mountain Goats, Open Mike Eagle, Andy "The Butcher" Williams of Every Time I Die, Conway The Machine, Westside Gunn, Action Bronson, KŌYŌ, Fozzy, The Mighty Jabronis, Hulk Hogan, Cyndi Lauper, KUARANTINE, John Cena, The Miz, The Misfits, Smoke DZA, Mega Ran, Griff/Scorcese, Code Orange, Weezer, and Zoogz Rift before them, HEEL often take stylistic cues from the WWF/WWE. "Listen up, milkmaids. PURE HEEL is here to make your insurance rates go up, your property value go down, and your dreams crumble. I, The Captain have assembled the finest crew of mutant bruisers to dominate all oncomers, big or small..." "Whether it is by the big-backed brawn of Doughy Ramone or the 190-p...
