Blu & Fa†e Announce Open Your Optics to Optimism EP Deluxe Cassette: 4th Anniversary Edition with "UFO II" (EveryDejaVu)

Just this past Monday, Boston-based label EveryDejaVu (@EveryDejaVu) casually Shared a rather mysterious message on their Twitter page, "Hidden in the intro blurb is a pre-order for a new cassette. Today marks the 4-year anniversary of Open Your Optics to Optimism, the collaborative album between @HerFavColor & @fateproduction! To celebrate, we put together a limited deluxe cassette." EveryDejaVu were, in fact, referring to their latest Substack newsletter, EDV #3: seangran, a Curator for the People. Said "intro blurb" in question further explains: "On top of that, today is the 4-year anniversary of Open Your Optics to Optimism, the collaborative album by Blu & Fa†e. While the Blu fan-boy in me could go on for days about this album, Miles Lamensky best described it: "On Open Your Optics to Optimism, LA's Blu and producer Fa†e buckle into a DeLorean, cruising back to a time before time in order that they might gain the knowledge necessary to exude such a genuine optimism. Faced with the absurdity and bluntness of such numbers as "4.6 billion years," it's hard to imagine a human conjuring any optimism at all. But Blu's calm and creative delivery, as well as experimentally-rooted lyricism act as the perfect guide across Fa†e's rhythmically-cohesive and booming production...'"

So, to help celebrate this monumentous occasion, EveryDejaVu have decided to put together a Deluxe Cassette 4th Anniversary Edition of Blu & Fa†e's Open Your Optics to Optimism EP. It's limited to just 100 cassette tapes, which are now avilable for pre-order directly from Fa†e's Bandcamp page. In addition to the 8 tracks originally included within Open Your Optics to Optimism's 2016 release, this special 4th Anniversary Edition boasts two additional Bonus Tracks, "UFO II" [Feat. Choker & Khary] and "Alienterlude." The aforementioned inclusion, "UFO II," is now available on most streaming services. Each cassette includes a multi-panel J-card with alternate versions of the EP's cover art created by McKay Felt and more. Blu & Fa†e's Open Your Optics to Optimism, Deluxe Cassette: 4th Anniversary Edition is now available for pre-order. EveryDejaVu's Substack Newsletter page says, "orders should be going at towards the end of October."

[W]reckless, Topless American Youth: Lana del Rey - "Born 2 Die" (Britney Spears Birthday 30)

Lana del Rey [Lizzy Grant] effectively became 2011's "It Girl" with the release of her phenomenal debut single, "Video Games" (Stranger) . Like many struggling singer-songwriters, Grant has been signed, dropped, and significantly changed her public image since bursting onto the scene (2009). With that said, it can be assumed that Lana del Rey has collected just as many "haters" as she has avid supporters. To be perfectly honest, the only other artist I can think of that made this much commotion... garnered so much wide-spread buzz/hate and critical acclaim -- right out of the gates -- with just one track is Britney Spears . And maybe in this post- Mike musical era, that's the true synthesis of Pop Culture: Britney Lynn Spears . After months of repeated teasing and speculation, Lana del Rey 's major label debut, Born 2 Die will [finally] be released this coming Jan. 30-31, 2012. Pitchfork reports that it will feature "Off to The Ra
