WalyO Returns with N.W.A. Feat. Michael Jackson - "LA Riots" Single from Re-imagined Version of Dr. Dre's Detox (OK-Tho! Records)

WalyO is a mysterious Connecticut-based producer and beat-maker. Sonically, his style of music often falls somewhere in-between remixes and mash-ups; almost like a musical version of Marvel's beloved zany WHAT IF...? comic book series. However, a press release asserts, "WalyO is NOT a remixer, instead, he creates brand new tracks by chopping up various acapellas from many different songs and re-arranges them into new verses on beats that are in the taste of the so-called artists." Following the success of his 2018 Diplomats-centric project Dipset, We Still Bangin', WalyO has returned with the first single from his next like-minded effort. N.W.A. Feat. Michael Jackson - "LA Riots" will appear within WalyO's upcoming sophomore project, his own rendition of Dr. Dre's fabled as-yet-to-be released magnum opus, Detox. Honestly, a collaboration between N.W.A. & The King of Pop is not as far-fetched as it sounds on paper... as Michael Jackson's camp was, reportedly, actively reaching out to Dr. Dre to collaborate during the later stages of his career. WalyO has seamlessly blended together vocal samples from Michael Jackson, as well as N.W.A.'s Dr. Dre, MC Ren, Ice Cube & Eazy-E all atop original production work created by WalyO himself. "Well, mainly, I'm not here to trick anybody to make them think it's new music from [Dr.] Dre and them. I'm, also, a fan, as well as an artist, and this is what I would want from Dre. It's a project I've been waiting for for over a decade. I'm just hoping what I deliver is good enough for fans to appreciate. At the same time, I'm trying to showcase what I can accomplish as a producer. There's a good amount of beat-makers out there that will put out Dre-type beats. I'm trying to take it a step further."

"And as far as the single, it started back in 2018. I made the beat over the Michael Jackson ["They Don't Care About Us"] acapella. Right away, I knew it sounded like some Dre sh*t. At the time, I was still working on my Dipset mixtape, so I wasn't sure if I was gonna do a Michael Jackson project or something else. Over time, it turned out to be something for a Dr. Dre Detox project. It's crazy how right as I was finishing it up, The Riots started happening. I already had the idea for the name beforehand, too; I guess, it's just a coincidence."

Chocolate & Cheese (1994) was one of the first albums I bought with my own money. I was in some sort of BMG Music Club , where you'd buy 5 CD's and then get 10 for "FREE." It was all sent through mail order and you picked the titles from some special booklet. I'm almost positive that Chocolate & Cheese's side boob-baring album cover was what initially drew me in... mind you, I was 12-15 and the zany Ween logo/middle finger CD graphic really didn't hurt either. Honestly, I forget how I really felt about it @ the time, but a few years later, my older cousin Josh told me that Ween were this BIG college "jam band." CKY did some sort pf 93.3 radio takeover to promote their new album and played "Freedom of '76" late that night on air.
