Take Today's current line-up consists of vocalist/guitarist Joseph M. Edwards, bassist/vocalist Emily Reed, guitarist/vocalist Mark Bancroft, and drummer Donald "Don" Bush. They're from Southern New Jersey & Eastern Pennsylvania just outside of Philadelphia. Although, Take Today's Bandcamp page readily lists their "hometown" as Burlington, NJ. Take Today released Communiques, Volume One as a trio including Joseph, Emily & Don in 2014 and followed it up with Communiques, Volume Two as a quartet in 2021. Not entirely unlike Michael Rapaport's 2011 documentary Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest, Tim Irwin & Keith Schieron 's Don't Break Down: A Film About Jawbreaker unintentionally helped reunite yet another Punk/Hardcore band. Blake Schwarzenbach, Adam Pfahler & Chris Bauermeister were originally active as Jawbreaker from 1986-96, released four albums and countless EP's/singles, fostered a die-hard underground following, toured with everyone from Nirvana to Foo Fighters, signed to DGC/Geffen Records, and, essentially, self-imploded before ever really "making it big." It almost pains me to admit it at this point because I thoroughly enjoy their respective newer output(s) so much, but WAVVES and Cloud Nothings are two bands that I just didn't get upon their initial Indie blog break-out nor did I enjoy their purposely lo-fi brand of bedroom-recorded Scuzz-Rock . While veteran rapper-producer El-P is without a doubt a Cloud Nothings super-fan, WAVVES frontman Nathan Williams seems to be a little more vocal admirer; Dylan Baldi recently woke up hungover in Paris to a random text from Williams to the effect of "Yo, wanna make a record together?" He further described their nearly completed Dylan & The Dead -esque album to Exclaim! as something in-between Cloud Nothings & WAVVES with "another [sonic] element that wasn't present in either of our music before."
