Supergrass Announce 2020 Reunion Tour, The Strange Ones Boxset & Release The Police "Next to You" Cover (The Echo Label/BMG)

Supergrass were a Britpop/Alternative Rock band originally active from 1993-2010, who achieved moderate State-side success with sugary early 2000's Pop-leaning singles, such as "Alright," "Caught By The Fuzz," and "In It for The Money." During their nearly 20-year career, Supergrass , also, dually functioned as a number of side-bands, including The Jennifers , Theodore Supergrass, The Diamond Hoo Ha Men , and The Hotrats; the latter even released a Nigel Godrich -produced cover of the Beastie Boys' 1989 Frat Rap single, "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)" Late last week, the mysterious hashtag "#Supergrass2020" started circulating across band members' Gareth "Gaz" Coombes, Danny Goffey, Mick Quinn & Rob Coombes' various social media pages and then, Friday morning, it was announced Supergrass would be reuniting... and then, before day's end, Supergrass played their first gig together ...

All-around Breakdown: Super Hi-Fi Bandleader & Bass Player Ezra Gale Breaks Down New Album Blue & White (Very Special Recordings)

I've personally, been rockin' out to Super Hi-Fi 's new album, Blue & White —which is out today on Very Special Recordings —since January thanks to Alex Pastuhov at Behind The Curtains Media . Luckily, I've had time to sit with the album and digest it's complex Reggae/Rock -fusing stylings. Blue & White was recorded directly to tape at Jersey City -based 9 Lives Studios with engineer Nicola Stemmer ; bandleader and bassist Eza Gale produced the album himself, which features the talents of fellow Super Hi-Fi bandmates Rick Parker , Robert Stringer, Jon Lipscomb , Ezra Gale, and Madhu Siddappa , as well as a crew of talented friends and musically-inclined associates. Collectively, Super Hi-Fi 's members have played alongside a wide array of artists, including Beyoncé , Curren$y, Donovan , Bill Frisell, Gregory Porter , and The Skatalites. " Blue & White is an album punctuated by dueling trombones, gut-rattling basslines, and Afrobeat -insp...

Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood: Vampire Weekend - "Unbelievers" (Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Unreleased)

Without sounding like a TOTAL Hipster douchebag , which I can honestly assure you I am NOT.... I can vividly remember downloading Vampire Weekend 's self-leaked 2007 demo tape and burning it onto a Blue CD-R before anybody else even knew about them! Vampire Weekend are "Tribal -infused" in the same sense that The Police were a "Reggae" band , riddim [rhythm] and Funky melodies; Evenly spread across their then upcoming self-titled debut record, Vampire Weekend somehow managed to find a way to seamlessly blend Indie Rock , Pop sensibility, "Yacht Rock," Punk Rock ideologies, Tribal drums, keen fashion sense, and a wide variety of assorted influences. The band's follow-up, Contra (2010) is most def one of my favourite albums of the past 10 years and while it's chock-full of instantly catchy hit jams, nothing beats "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa!" Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Baio & Chris Tomson took a little break b...
