Body Spray's Adam Black Reveals Himself As UNFLUENCER & Shares New Album Are You Not Infotained? (R.I.P. Influencer 2021-2021)

Adam "Influence" Black functions as the beloved bassist for Philly's own Hoagie-core pioneers Body Spray. We got a chance to see Body Spray as part of a Pissed Jeans gig at Boot & Saddle a quite few years back now "B.C." (Before COVID-19) and became instant fans. We've been in contact with Black on-and-off ever since. Legend has it, Body Spray's members met in a bowling league. "We rolled together and, then, we rocked together," as they perfectly spin it. At the time of said bowling meet-up, Dan Haddigan & Eric Kenney were in Problems and Adam Black & Ian Kiesel were in Cannon. Body Spray's 2019 full-length debut, Music to Fall Down To , is a phenomenally frantic and extremely fun display of Hoagie-core, Metal, Noise Rock, and Punk/Hardcore. Are You Not Infotained? by Unfluencer Black is, also, a member of Philly-based two and three-man bands Keystone Blight & Salt Farm and until recently, moonlighted as Influencer,...

"Trust Fall At The Eagles Parade:" Body Spray Let Loose Flippin' Awesome Philly-centric "New Smell" Music Video (Music to Fall Down To)

It looks like it's poised to be a pretty BIG week for Philly Hoagie-core pioneers Body Spray , as their long-awaited debut full-length, Music to Fall Down To will be released digitally this Friday, March 15th. They're also, playing a Music to Fall Down To Record Release Show on "St. Body Spray Day," Sunday, March 17th, at Ortlieb's with Plot & Table. Just this past Friday, Adam Black, Dan Haddigan, Eric Kenney & Ian Kiesel unleashed their second music video from Music to Fall Down To for Bandcamp single, "New Smell." It was directed by James Powers and edited by B.S.' own Adam Black and features the band running around "the mean streets" of Philly wreaking havoc, all the while, donning giant middle finger masks on their heads. Honestly, the "New Smell" is "Philly" through and through; from Body Spray 's Rocky -esque sweatsuits to punching meat slabs... well, much smaller pieces of meat strappe...

Body Spray Return with 2 Rippin' New Singles "Still Swollen" & "New Smell" from Music to Fall Down To (St. Body Spray Day Release Show)

Music To Fall Down To by Body Spray Body Spray (@BodySprayStinks) are a South Philly -based Noise Rock/"Hoagie"-core band consisting of frontman Dan Haddigan , bassist Adam Black , drummer Ian Kiesel , and guitarist Eric Kenney . Their Bandcamp page boasts: "We met in a bowling league. We rolled together and then, we Rocked together!" For a Punk/Hardcore -adjacent band, Body Spray are surprisingly active on social media; regularly maintaining and updating their own Facebook , Instagram , and Twitter pages. Since first seeing Body Spray 's set at Pissed Jeans' WHY LOVE NOW? Record Release Show at Boot & Saddle back in March of 2017 with M Ax Noi Mach , I've been frequently corresponding with Adam & Ian , I believe, on the band's Twitter page and through email. Although, I've been listening to Body Spray 's phenomenal 2016 Hell EP for, at least, a year or so now, I've known they've had a proper full-length looming ...

All-around Breakdown: Experimental Artist Graham Dunning On His "Mechanical Techno" Set-up & Tentation 12-inch LP (White Denim #27)

"Tweaking, improving, and modifying a machine is what I've been doing with Mechanical Techno since starting the project a few years ago. This process gives the record it's title, the mostly obsolete word, "tentation;" a more colloquial word for the same thing might be fettling. The two tracks that make up this album are each made through a process of fettling a musical machine. I started playing more abstract, Noise-based turntable sets in 2008, usually playing with several turntables, modified hardware and vinyl, guitar effects pedals, cymbals, springs, marbles, rolls of tape, dentistry tools, and anything I could get my hands on. The focus in the early days was texture, drone, controlled feedback, and surface noise, but still with some rhythmical elements that scratched up records naturally provide. I used randomly occurring snippets of sound and samples disconnected from context quite a lot in those early recordings and live sets, too. Sometime later, I b...

South Philly's Own Hoagie-core/Noise Rockers Body Spray Unveil "Edgy" Music Video from Music to Fall Down To (Coming March 2019)

Hell by Body Spray Body Spray are a Noise Rock band hailing from South Philly , who first met while competing in a local bowling league. Back in March 2017, I attended Pissed Jeans' WHY LOVE NOW? Release Show at Philly venue/watering hole Boot & Saddle and Body Spray , along with M Ax Noi Mach , were the were the show's openers. From what I can remember, Body Spray tore it up and played a completely frantic, rousing set to help get everyone amped up for The Jeans . I've since been in contact with the band, via email, and have learned that Body Spray consists of bassist Adam Black , vocalist Dan Haddigan , guitarist Eric Kenney , and drummer Ian Kiesel . For a Punk/Hardcore band, Body Spray have a surprisingly impressive social media presence, actually; their Facebook (@bodysprayband,) Instagram (@bodysprayband,) and Twitter (@BodySprayStinks) pages are all regularly updated with show flyers, recording information, and interesting quips. Body Spray '...

Philly Punks DARK THOUGHTS Unleash Ghoulish HALLOWEEN TAPE with 4 "Rough Demos" from Upcoming Second Album (self-released)

DARK THOUGHTS HALLOWEEN TAPE by DARK THOUGHTS It really makes complete and total sense for a band entitled "Dark Thoughts" to make a spook-tacular Halloween -themed mixtape just in time for All Hallows' Eve . I'm actually, a bit surprised they haven't done it sooner; considering Dark Thoughts are a self-described Pop-Punk -minded band "dressing up" as their beloved The Ramones nearly each and every day. Dark Thoughts have already opened up for fellow Philly Punks Blank Spell , Pissed Jeans, and SHEER MAG and are currently working on the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed self-titled 2016 debut. HALLOWEEN TAPE showcases four rough demos currently slated to appear within Album #2: "NO GOOD," "DON'T WANNA," "HATE THIS SONG," and "LITTLE THING," all of which collectively clock in right around the 5-minutes mark. Then, the remaining nine or so minutes housed on Dark Thoughts' HALLOWEEN TAPE con...

Trapped Under Ice & Angel Du$t Frontman Justice Tripp Speaks On 14-Minute HEATWAVE "Album" Recorded with Pissed Jeans' Wailer Matt Korvette & Producer Arthur Rizk (The Witzard Interview)

"10 years after their first release, Trapped Under Ice brings you Heatwave. This phat LP is short, fast, and Hardcore; the way Straight Ahead intended, but played more like Fury of Five and Breakdown at a backyard party. For Punks who've considered throwing a spin-kick in jean shorts. Rhythmically, Heatwave is like a trailer park Sepultura. Check it out if you f**k with what TUI has been doing for the last decade. The same, but different" is how Baltimore Hardcore Punks Trapped Under Ice describe their latest record, Heatwave within a Pop Wig Records pre-order. Heatwave consists of 11 rapid-fire tracks that collectively clock in at right around 14 minutes-worth of frantic, blistering well-executed Punk. It's been six years since Trapped Under Ice's last album, Big Kiss Goodnight (2011) and since then, its members have splintered off to form like-minded progressive Punk/Hardcore bands Angel Du$t , Turnstile, Diamond Youth, Down to Nothing, WARFARE, and Sai Nam, ...

Double Decker Records & YO! BABY SUP's Alex Sanchez On "Pressing" 30 Limited Edition JAY-Z/The Ultimate Warriors "Split" 12-inches from Record Store Day 2017 (The Witzard Interview)

Discogs simply describes JAY-Z, The Ultimate Warriors ‎– Split 12-inch as: "a JAY-Z 12-inch single glued to The Ultimate Warrior's Our Gimmick Is Wrestling LP. Limited to 30 copies for Record Store Day 2017 at Double Decker Records. Some copies have orange "IMPORT" sticker on the front. Some copies have the the A-side of Our Gimmick Is Wrestling LP playable and some have the B-side." The Ultimate Warriors were a Nazareth-based Wrestling-themed Hardcore/Powerviolence band active from about 1998-2003, which notoriously heralded as a pre-Pissed Jeans incarnation of Pissed Jeans; featuring Matt "Rageez" Kosloff (Korvette,) Brad "The Mothaf**ka" Real (Fry,) and Little Randy Youth (Huth,) as well as additional members who went on to form Pearls & Brass, The Gate Crashers, and Torchbearer. Throughout their short, yet sweet tenure, The Ultimate Warriors unleashed seven singles and split EP's with the likes of Abathakothie, Warrior Noise, Da...

Pissed Jeans & STREET STAINS Drummer Sean "On The Drums" McGuinness Speaks On READY TO BE RICH Solo Tape & WHY LOVE NOW? with Lydia Lunch (The Witzard Interview)

"Sean McGuinness is an American musician living in Philadelphia. He has played with Pissed Jeans, Utensil, The Great Collector, Bazhena, Technician, Navies, Go to Sleep, Like Language, Ready Set, Air Conditioning, Oil Drum, Birth Control, Rat Fist, Des Ark, Dark Blue, STREET STAINS, and Remote Places, among other sit-ins, sessions, and general groupings of friends and strangers," Sean "On The Drums" McGuinness' newly-minted Bandcamp Bio simply reads. As you can see, the long-time Pissed Jeans drummer has his hands in a lot of pots... even the brewpot at Ardmore-based Tired Hands Brewing Company , where he bartenders a few days a week, when not recording or touring with Pissed Jeans. Although, McGuinness is fresh off a handful of local dates with Pissed Jeans, he also played on STREET STAINS self-titled self-released debut with long-time friend and collaborator Chris Richards, formerly of Q and Not U and currently of The Washington Post. And even though I just ...

Ridley Scott's Former Intern & One-time Maroon 5 Production Assistant Joe Stakun Directs Pissed Jeans' Latest WHY LOVE NOW? Music Video, "The Bar Is Low" (The Witzard Interview)

"Joe Stakun is in-demand; the 21-year-old film student’s resume includes interning for Ridley Scott, interviewing BMX superstar Mat Hoffman and working as a production assistant for Maroon 5. Now he can add directing a Modest Mouse video to his lengthy credentials. Stakun won the opportunity for a taste of mainstream recognition in April 2007 when Modest Mouse invited fans to submit videos for their single "We've Got Everything" as part of a contest; the winner would have his or her video played on mtvU," Temple News/Lifestyle scribe Jimmy Viola wrote within a 2007-published piece. Joe Stakun has since edited TV shows like Dream Corp. LLC, Check It Out! with Steve Brule, The Birthday Boys, Comedy Central's Another Period, and Hot Package, as well as directing duties on MUTHA and I Love My Bicycle: The Story of FBM Bikes. Stakun has additionally directed various Butterfinger, Wendy's Dairy Queen, Little Caesars, and Harold & Kumar commercials broadc...

Washington Post Pop Music Critic & Former Q and Not U Guitarist Chris Richards & Pissed Jeans Drummer Sean McGuinness Unleash STREET STAINS Album (The Witzard Interview)

"In the summer of 2008, Chris [Richards] took the bus from Brooklyn to Philadelphia every Thursday afternoon to jam with Sean [McGuinness] and watch The Olympics. They wrote more than 30 songs. Then, they forgot about them until January of 2013. Chris was now living in D.C. and Sean convinced Aaron [Leitko] to cart his Tascam-388 up to Philly for an afternoon of recording. Captured on tape for the ages, these songs were quickly abandoned once more—until the summer of 2014, when Chris finally recorded the words with Aaron back in D.C. Everybody forgot about the songs one more time, before reconvening to mix them in the spring of 2015. And them—after another two years had vanished into oblivion—PRESTO! Street Stains was released in January 2017 and can finally be forgotten forever," reads the description attached to Street Stains 14-track debut. Long-time friends and frequent collaborators (unbeknownst to the rest of the world) Chris Richards & Sean McGuinness finally unl...
