For decades, the Upper Midwest of the United States has been a hotspot for Hardcore bands that bend genres and refuse to stick to tired formulas, producing acts like Hüsker Dü & Die Kreuzen. Milwaukee's Big Laugh are here to continue that tradition with a sound that finds them as much at home playing D.I.Y. shows in dingy basements as playing large clubs alongside some of Hardcore & Punk's luminaries. Recently signed with legendary Hardcore label Revelation Records, Big Laugh are set to unleash their debut album, Consume Me, in February 2023. It follows the band's 2020 EP, Manic Revision (11PM Records,) which will, also, see a vinyl re-issue from the label. Recorded with producer Matt Russell at Altered States studio in Chicago, Consume Me is an energetic blast of creative Hardcore.

Self-described "Punks who listen to Judge," Big Laugh work in a wide array of influences—from the blazing speed and harsh noises of Japanese rippers, like Gauze & B*stard, to the mosh-ready impact of NYHC bands, like Burn & Alone In A Crowd, and even some melodic sensibilities, akin to the aforementioned Hüsker Dü. The album's lyrics hit close to home for the band, holding personal notions while still feeling outwardly relatable. Focused on building their own lane, Big Laugh are not afraid of the work it takes to make the masses take notice. Booking their own tours, they have played alongside bands, like Revelation Records labelmates TØRSÖ & Urban Sprawl, as well as GEL, SPY, No Pressure, and appeared at 2022's massive Sound & Fury Festival in LA that drew more than 5,000 people. With high ambitions, Big Laugh is centered on creating whatever they want however they want and Consume Me is just the next step for this young band.

Earlier this week, Revelation Records shared the second single from Consume Me, "Shadow Figure," as well as a quick-strike 1:30 burst of a music video for Big Laugh's previous single, "Mask." Information on Big Laugh's memebrs is currently being kept close to the chest and not publicly/widely shared... however, Revelation Records' co-founder Jordan "Coop" Cooper told us Big Laugh's line-up for Consume Me is Zach Moffat, Drew Czarnik, Jesse Sieren, and Leo Mata. Although, since writing and recording Consume Me, Mata has left Big Laugh and a new member only known as Casey has now joined the fold. Big Laugh's Consume Me is now avilable for pre-order on Revelation Records on black-and-white (REVHQ exclusive) and Coke bottle clear-colored vinyl, along with a pre-press of 2020's Manic Revision EP on black (REVHQ exclusive) and opaque orange vinyl. Big Laugh's Consume Me is out 2/10 on Revelation Records.

[W]reckless, Topless American Youth: Lana del Rey - "Born 2 Die" (Britney Spears Birthday 30)

Lana del Rey [Lizzy Grant] effectively became 2011's "It Girl" with the release of her phenomenal debut single, "Video Games" (Stranger) . Like many struggling singer-songwriters, Grant has been signed, dropped, and significantly changed her public image since bursting onto the scene (2009). With that said, it can be assumed that Lana del Rey has collected just as many "haters" as she has avid supporters. To be perfectly honest, the only other artist I can think of that made this much commotion... garnered so much wide-spread buzz/hate and critical acclaim -- right out of the gates -- with just one track is Britney Spears . And maybe in this post- Mike musical era, that's the true synthesis of Pop Culture: Britney Lynn Spears . After months of repeated teasing and speculation, Lana del Rey 's major label debut, Born 2 Die will [finally] be released this coming Jan. 30-31, 2012. Pitchfork reports that it will feature "Off to The Ra
