Chesty Malone & The Slice 'em Ups Share Share Super Bowl Weekend Cover of Black Flag's "My War" (Bandcamp-only, self-released)

Punk/Metal maniacs Chesty Malone & The Slice 'em Ups are from the bowels of New York City, USA and they've been playing their twisted brand of Rock "N" Roll up and down The East Coast & The Midwest for over 13 years. They were weened on 1980's Punk, Hardcore, and Metal, long-forgotten Rockabilly bands, and an unhealthy dose of Zombie & Slasher flicks, trashy novels, late night Sci-Fi TV. Formed in 2006 in Astoria, Queens, New York by singer Jaqueline Blownaparte and guitar mangler Anthony Allen Van Hoek, Chesty Malone & The Slice 'em Ups unleashed their debut album, Now We're Gonna See What Disaster Really Means, in 2008 on Wrecked Records. It was soon ollowed in 2011 by sophomore effort, Torture Rock. Chesty, then, released their third LP, We're Still Dead!, in 2017. They had two acclaimed 7-inch EP's drop throughout 2019 on 1332 Records, Satantic Brooklyn Scum and Destroy All Humans.

"Turn to Crime," a two-song single backed with "I Like Killing" was self-released in 2021. Since releasing their fourth album, Please, Chesty, Don't Hurt 'em!, on Cleopatra Records as recently as 2022, Chesty has already dropped two new stand-alone singles with "No One's Dyin'" and "Energy Vampire." Just this past Super Bowl LVII Weekend, Chesty Malone & The Slice 'em Ups shared their own charasmatic cover of "My War" from Black Flag's 1984 album, My War. It was, actually, Black Flag's sophomore album and first of THREE full-lengths released throughout '84, along with Family Man and Slip It In. My War famously featured the power-house line-up of frantic frontman Henry Rollins, guitarist and founding member Greg Ginn, bassist Dale Nixon (also, Greg Ginn,) and drummer Bill Stevenson, who at the time, was somehow doing double-duty in both Black Flag & Descendents.

We spoke to Anthony Allen Van Hoek over the weekend, who shared, "I was sitting around one day when I decided I wanted to learn the guitar parts from "My War," for no particular reason other than [that] we love this song and album. Turns out the the Jazz [intro] part is really annoying to learn, so we decided we should just do a whole Chesty [Malone & The Slice 'em Ups] "My War" cover. At one point, we contemplated covering the entire My War album, which could happen someday. Black Flag is a huge part of our DNA!" Sultry frontwoman Jaqueline Blownaparte added, "Yeah! I still wanna do the whole album or someone suggested we do a 7-inch of this backed with [Black Flag's] "Scream," which would, also, be pretty dang fun! Anywho, for now, this is only on Bandcamp, but it will be on all streaming [services] once we figure out those G*ddamn legalities."

AAB even designed his own Chesty-influenced version of Raymond Pettibon's iconic My War album cover for the "My War" cover single cover. To be completeyly honest, our personal favorite Black Flag album is and always has been their 1981 debut with Rollins, Damaged, but we would love to hear what Chesty could do with the rest of My War. Chesty Malone & The Slice 'em Ups are currently looking for a permanent bassist player, as well as a drummer, but "My War" features the core line-up of Jaqueline "Chesty" Blownaparte & Anthony Allen Van Hoek, along with Diablo Rodriguez on bass and B.J. Ford on drums. You can find all their physical releases and more on their merch store here. Look out for Chesty Malone & The Slice 'em Ups in your local area dingy dirty sh*thole near you!

[W]reckless, Topless American Youth: Lana del Rey - "Born 2 Die" (Britney Spears Birthday 30)

Lana del Rey [Lizzy Grant] effectively became 2011's "It Girl" with the release of her phenomenal debut single, "Video Games" (Stranger) . Like many struggling singer-songwriters, Grant has been signed, dropped, and significantly changed her public image since bursting onto the scene (2009). With that said, it can be assumed that Lana del Rey has collected just as many "haters" as she has avid supporters. To be perfectly honest, the only other artist I can think of that made this much commotion... garnered so much wide-spread buzz/hate and critical acclaim -- right out of the gates -- with just one track is Britney Spears . And maybe in this post- Mike musical era, that's the true synthesis of Pop Culture: Britney Lynn Spears . After months of repeated teasing and speculation, Lana del Rey 's major label debut, Born 2 Die will [finally] be released this coming Jan. 30-31, 2012. Pitchfork reports that it will feature "Off to The Ra

"Let Me Shine for You:" Lindsay Lohan for Playboy (Winter 2011-12 Leak)

Lindsay Lohan essentially embodies exactly "What NOT to Do In Hollywood :" Fame, fortune, success... sex, drugs & Rock "N" Roll . Within a fairly short period of time, Lohan somehow managed to obtain a plentiful helping of POWER @ a very young age. This gradual rise-downfall was captured on film; Between 1998-2010, she portrayed a wide array of roles across the silver screen in movies including: Mean Girls, Bobby , Herbie Fully Loaded , Georgia Rule, Machete , and Freaky Friday . Between rapid-paced film shoots, Lindsay Lohan also found time to record 2 Pop Rock albums for Casablanca , Speak (2004) and A Litter More Personal-Raw (2005). Needless to say, Lindsay Lohan has gotten roped up in a lot of troubles and woes with the law over the last 3-5 years... a vicious cycle of drugs, arrest, court, rehab, "daddy issues," jail time [Repeat]. That's the pure basics of it - But Google that shit for additional info, if necessary. Towards the end of
