School is back in session across the Nation and our favorite teacher, husband, father, beat-maker, and dish-washer, John "Jumbled" Bachman has shared a new 7-track EP for your communte to and from work/school. Bachman is back with JUMBLED'S JUKEBOX, a collection of Doo-Wop inspired Hip-Hop. Jumbled describes it as "a project inspired by Tuesday night trips to the grocery store—jumping in the car and hearing the Doo-Wop radio show on 90.5 WKHS, out of Kent County, Maryland." JUMBLED'S JUKEBOX makes good use of "songs that have been long-forgotten by most, but are still cherished by some." It showcases a selection of vocalists over Jumbled's bare-bones instrumentation that harken back to simpler, times. This brief collection contains a varied assortment of beats with Jumbled choosing to not just sample Doo-Wop harmonies, but, also, include songs (samples? beats?) that maintain that vibe, as well.
Guests heard across JUMBLED'S JUKEBOX include: ALYX Ryon, Darko The Super, newcomer JazzHerSize, Cody Cody Jones, DFRNTFRM, and Jack Wilson. Additionally, Jumbled's frequent collaborator Eben Dennis (Soft Peaks, ORSULAK) provides some guitar accents and Jumbled himself appears supplying back-up vocals. Dan "Height" briefly appears on "Jess' Doo-Wop Jams [radio show]" which effectively ties it all together, thanks to semi-retired DJ Jesse "Jess" Morgan, who calls out the tunes, as if they were long-lost 45's. All tracks on JUMBLED'S JUKEBOX were mixed by Lew Paugh AKA Dwell of Bully Preston, except "You'll Never Know." Bachman gives a special shout-out/thanks to both Marcus Villano & 83 Cutlass on Bandcamp, as well. We won't give away exactly what it is, but for those purchasing on Bandcamp, there's a special surprise, especially, if you're a fan of NPR or Jumbled's 2016 effort, [I wish it was longer] (WIWL.) JUMBLED'S JUKEBOX: DOO-WOP INSPIRED HIP-HOP is now available for purchase from Harford & Reckord Tapes exclusively on Bandcamp.
