The Witzard Premiere: Sapwood's "Nothing New" from Whenever You See Fit - A Tribute to Modest Mouse (Heavenly Creature/GoldMold Records)

Scotland/Glasgow-based labels Heavenly Creature & GoldMold Records have announced a new joint compilation, Whenever You See Fit: A Tribute to Modest Mouse. It consists of 19 Modest Mouse covers available digitally and on cassette tape with original artwork created by Steven Hill. Heavenly Creature Records have firmly established themselves as an integral part of the Scottish Indie music scene, ahead of their first birthday this June. Whenever You See Fit will be the label's sixth charity covers compilation within that short period of time. The label previously paid tribute to artists of the 1980's, The National, Frightened Rabbit, Taylor Swift, Sleater Kinney, and Los Campesinos! raising thousands of pounds for various charities and receiving the attention of NME, The Line of Best Fit, Far Out Magazine, Mxdwn, WormBrainWorld, and more.

Glasgow D.I.Y. cassette tape label GoldMold Records are excited to join Heavenly Creature in releasing Whenever You See Fit. Here, we have 19 Modest Mouse covers from artists in the Glasgow DIY scene (Community Swimming Pool, Slowlight, Lovers Turn to Monsters, Broad-Shouldered Baby,) The UK (Fleeces, Sun Spot, Kid Chameleon,) and The US (Dream Phone, Carly Cosgrove, Calendar Year, Sapwood, and more.) All proceeds from the compilation will be donated to Scottish Families Affected to Alcohol & Drugs (S.F.A.D.) Today, we're proud to be premiering Sapwood's cover of a slightly lesser-known unreleased Modest Mouse favorite.

"'Nothing New" is one of my favorite unreleased Modest Mouse songs! I really love the way he sings "oh, my God, I can see" haha. I bought This Is A Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About (1996) on CD from FYE when I was 14 and have been obsessed with Modest Mouse ever since," Sapwood frontperson Jason "J.B." Brown shared exclusively with The Witzard. "I think the way I make music is very much influenced by Isaac Brock's song-writing styles and, coincidentally enough, we both had jobs driving long-distance and delivering stuff (I think he used to deliver meat? lol.) Idk lol, I love Modest Mouse, though. They're my favorite band. And I'm going to see them this Saturday!!!" they enthusiastically continued.

Most of you may not be familiar with the original version of "Nothing New" (we've included a leaked version below,) but we can assure you, Sapwood do a fantastic job covering it and paying tribute to one of their greatest sources of inspiration. Full disclosure: we used to work at Shop Rite with Jason and have suported all of their projects since Day 1, including, but not limited to, Jason Brownies, Bear Faces, Ear Nail, Hood Vermin, Todo Rosa, and The Purple Rubber People Band. We'll have to dig up some of the hand-made super-limited edition CD-R's and mixtapes they used to gift me over in The Bakery department at Shop Rite! Check out Sapwood's rather expansive discography on Bandcamp and go support them on an upcoming Bandcamp Friday!

GoldMold Records labelhead/founder Gary Taylor (@goldmoldgary) shared, "Modest Mouse have been my favourite band for years. After the release of The Golden Casket, I was back to listening to them every day while, also, enjoying the compilations released by Heavenly Creature [HC] Records with covers of Frightened Rabbit and others. It seemed natural to seek to combine these, so Lauren at HC and I linked up and she was all-in right away. Like with previous HC compilations, we put out a call to artists and got a great response—we couldn't be happier with how it's all turned out." Taylor added, "all artists picked their own songs, recording them themselves, and submitting them to us. Steven Hill of Struggletown Records, another regular collaborator for myself and Lauren, did the artwork, which is incredible."

"It wouldn't look out of place in the Modest Mouse discography, in my opinion, and really captures that bittersweet feeling that runs through a lot of their music." All proceeds raised from this comp. will be donated to Scottish Families Affected By Alcohol & Drugs (S.F.A.D.) S.F.A.D. is a National charity that supports anyone concerned about someone else's alcohol or drug use in Scotland. We give information and advice to many people and help them with confidence, communication, general well-being, and we link them into local support. We, also, help people recognise and understand the importance of looking after themselves. We support people through our helpline, bereavement support service, Telehealth (one-to-one support,) and our family support services in Aberdeenshire, East Dunbartonshire, and Forth Valley in Scotland." More information and resources are available at SFAD.org.uk. Whenever You See Fit: A TRibute to Modest Mouse is now available for pre-order on limited edition cassette tape and digital album from both GoldMold Records & Heavenly Creature Records. Whenever You See Fit will become widely available on Friday, June 3, 2022.

[W]reckless, Topless American Youth: Lana del Rey - "Born 2 Die" (Britney Spears Birthday 30)

Lana del Rey [Lizzy Grant] effectively became 2011's "It Girl" with the release of her phenomenal debut single, "Video Games" (Stranger) . Like many struggling singer-songwriters, Grant has been signed, dropped, and significantly changed her public image since bursting onto the scene (2009). With that said, it can be assumed that Lana del Rey has collected just as many "haters" as she has avid supporters. To be perfectly honest, the only other artist I can think of that made this much commotion... garnered so much wide-spread buzz/hate and critical acclaim -- right out of the gates -- with just one track is Britney Spears . And maybe in this post- Mike musical era, that's the true synthesis of Pop Culture: Britney Lynn Spears . After months of repeated teasing and speculation, Lana del Rey 's major label debut, Born 2 Die will [finally] be released this coming Jan. 30-31, 2012. Pitchfork reports that it will feature "Off to The Ra

3 Feet High & Rising: Band of Bearded Brothers Cellar Door Moon Crow Unleash Rollicking Single "Whistler" from Upcoming Blues Rock EP (Bandcamp, self-released)

Whistler by Cellar Door Moon Crow British Rock 2-piece band Cellar Door Moon Crow mysteriously found and Followed The Witzard (@SharpCheddar856) on Twitter a few months ago. Their Facebook About section simply lists a brief, yet fitting, mission statement: "Band ~ Beards ~ Brothers Goodwin brothers Phil & Tommy . Sheffield, UK " and their accompanying Biography section contains a similar refrain: "Band ^ Beards ^ Brothers," as well as their Bandcamp page. There really isn't much else to be known about twin brothers Phil & Tom Goodwin , aside from the fact that they make infectious, down and dirty Rock "N" Roll —all entirely written, recorded, produced, and mixed in-house by Cellar Door Moon Crow (CDMC) themselves. CDMC 's Bandcamp page often tags their musical output as " British Rock , Rock, Blues Rock , two-piece band, Sheffield " and I would best liken their sound to a stylistic mix between The Black Keys , Thir

"Let Me Shine for You:" Lindsay Lohan for Playboy (Winter 2011-12 Leak)

Lindsay Lohan essentially embodies exactly "What NOT to Do In Hollywood :" Fame, fortune, success... sex, drugs & Rock "N" Roll . Within a fairly short period of time, Lohan somehow managed to obtain a plentiful helping of POWER @ a very young age. This gradual rise-downfall was captured on film; Between 1998-2010, she portrayed a wide array of roles across the silver screen in movies including: Mean Girls, Bobby , Herbie Fully Loaded , Georgia Rule, Machete , and Freaky Friday . Between rapid-paced film shoots, Lindsay Lohan also found time to record 2 Pop Rock albums for Casablanca , Speak (2004) and A Litter More Personal-Raw (2005). Needless to say, Lindsay Lohan has gotten roped up in a lot of troubles and woes with the law over the last 3-5 years... a vicious cycle of drugs, arrest, court, rehab, "daddy issues," jail time [Repeat]. That's the pure basics of it - But Google that shit for additional info, if necessary. Towards the end of
