Wavves Return with New Dave Sitek-produced Single "Sinking Feeling" & Colorful Music Video (Fat Possum Records)

CREDIT: Jesse Lirola

Last night, without any prior wanrning, Wavves released a brand new song to Bandcamp, Spotify, and other like-minded digital streaming services. "Sinking Feeling" is, actually, Wavves' first proper single since their 2017 album, You're Welcome and their first with Fat Possum Records since 2010's King of The Beach. Last we heard from Wavves, they were actively planning a KING OF THE BEACH 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY TOUR, but that, like most things, was cancelled, re-scheduled to 10-11/2020, and has now, seemingly, been postponed indefinitely. Wavves' current line-up now consists of Nathan Williams, Stephen "Stevie" Pope, Alex Gates, and Ross Traver formerly of Culture Abuse. For lack of a better term, Wavves have always kinda been one of those "buzz" bands who have remained very popular within the Indie Rock blog circuits; frontman Nathan Williams even has/had a number of side-projects including both Spirit Club & Sweet Valley with his brother, Joel "KYNAN" Williams.

Wavves have previously collaborated with the likes of Beach Fossils, Best Coast, Big Boi (OutKast,) Cloud Nothings, Culture Abuse, F*CKED UP, TRASH TALK, and Weezer. However, this time around, Wavves seemingly have a brand new collaborator, super-producer and multi-instrumentalist Dave Sitek (TV On The Radio.) "A little over a year ago, Nathan Williams found himself back in San Diego, writing what will, eventually, become his seventh album as Wavves, in a little shed behind his parents' house. It was, also, the place where he made some of his earliest albums, before he became known for his uncanny ability to write songs that sneered at the world, while evoking pathos, sympathy, and a deep understanding of how, sometimes, we're our own worst enemies and that can be okay, reads, what appears to be, a press release attached to the ABOUT/Description section of Wavves' YouTube channel.

"Williams' return to his childhood home was not just a symbolic attempt at jump-starting creativity. It came as a result of a series of major life changes. After realizing the material he'd been working on in the hideaway was starting to take shape, Williams, linked up with musician and producer Dave Sitek of TV On The Radio..." continues the text, written by Sam Hockley-Smith. So, we're not entitely sure what or when we're getting more new material from Wavves... but for the time being, we have "Sinking Feeling." It's a slightly more light Folk-pop tune compared to the more bratty fuzzed out Pop-punk we've grown to expect from Wavves. "Sinking Feeling"'s wide release was accompanied by a companion music video directed by Jesse Lirola and starring Nathan Williams, Sua Yoo, Selena Ruiz, Sadie Patten, Leona Skywalker, Blackpaw, and Urbyn Yates. Wavves' "Sinking Feeling" is now available digitally on Fat Possum Records.

[W]reckless, Topless American Youth: Lana del Rey - "Born 2 Die" (Britney Spears Birthday 30)

Lana del Rey [Lizzy Grant] effectively became 2011's "It Girl" with the release of her phenomenal debut single, "Video Games" (Stranger) . Like many struggling singer-songwriters, Grant has been signed, dropped, and significantly changed her public image since bursting onto the scene (2009). With that said, it can be assumed that Lana del Rey has collected just as many "haters" as she has avid supporters. To be perfectly honest, the only other artist I can think of that made this much commotion... garnered so much wide-spread buzz/hate and critical acclaim -- right out of the gates -- with just one track is Britney Spears . And maybe in this post- Mike musical era, that's the true synthesis of Pop Culture: Britney Lynn Spears . After months of repeated teasing and speculation, Lana del Rey 's major label debut, Born 2 Die will [finally] be released this coming Jan. 30-31, 2012. Pitchfork reports that it will feature "Off to The Ra

"Let Me Shine for You:" Lindsay Lohan for Playboy (Winter 2011-12 Leak)

Lindsay Lohan essentially embodies exactly "What NOT to Do In Hollywood :" Fame, fortune, success... sex, drugs & Rock "N" Roll . Within a fairly short period of time, Lohan somehow managed to obtain a plentiful helping of POWER @ a very young age. This gradual rise-downfall was captured on film; Between 1998-2010, she portrayed a wide array of roles across the silver screen in movies including: Mean Girls, Bobby , Herbie Fully Loaded , Georgia Rule, Machete , and Freaky Friday . Between rapid-paced film shoots, Lindsay Lohan also found time to record 2 Pop Rock albums for Casablanca , Speak (2004) and A Litter More Personal-Raw (2005). Needless to say, Lindsay Lohan has gotten roped up in a lot of troubles and woes with the law over the last 3-5 years... a vicious cycle of drugs, arrest, court, rehab, "daddy issues," jail time [Repeat]. That's the pure basics of it - But Google that shit for additional info, if necessary. Towards the end of
