Titus Andronicus Share Mysterious "2020 TEASER" Clip... In Honor of The 10th Anniversary of The Monitor? (XL Recordings #MON1T0R)

Earlier this morning, Titus Andronicus posted a rather cryptic video on their band YouTube page simply entitled "TITUS ANDRONICUS - 2020 TEASER." It came packaged along with this block of text within the Description section: "On March 9th 2010, Titus Andronicus released their landmark album The Monitor . On March 9th 2020, Titus Andronicus released this cryptic video. What does it mean? Stay tuned to find out..." along with the cryptic hashtag #MON1T0R . The monitor was, of course, Titus Andronicus' sophomore album and follow-up to Seinfeld-referencing The Airing of The Grievances . It included soaring contributions from frontman Patrick Stickles and a who's-who of 2010 Indie Rock musicians, family, and friends, including Brett Bondar , Ian Graetzer, David Bentley , Eric Harm, Greg Farley (Conor Oberst,) Andrew Cedermark, Dustin Wong (Ponytail,) Pete Feigenbaum, Kevin McMahon (Diarrhea Planet,) Ian O'Neil (Deer Tick,) Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak,) Li...

King Krule Plays 8 Moon-rockin' The OOZ Cuts "Live On The Moon" In New Concert Film Ahead of 2018 TOUR (Directed By: Molten Jets)

Archy K.I. Marshall , better known as grizzly-voiced singer King Krule , uploaded a mysterious 31-minute video earlier this morning entitled "King Krule - Molten Jets - Live On The Moon;" accompanied by a rather cryptic Facebook caption, which reads, "Through Tereshkova 's orbit and Kubrick 's lens. Houston , we have a problem." Molten Jets are seemingly, a "MUSIC / FILM / FEMIDOM" collective and potentially, even a record label shrouded in mystery, who either directed "King Krule - Molten Jets - Live On The Moon," played alongside King Krule and his band "in orbit," or maybe even both. Molten Jets' Facebook Story reads: "We are the complete 900º forward roll, firing hot jets of audio and video to your buds. Brace yourself for the next eruption." There are, however, comprehensive credits for what has already been described as a "KING-SIZE LUNAR ERUPTION" listed at MoltenJets.com . It appears as th...

Ratatat Unexpectedly Return from Five-year Hiatus with Pre-Coachella Single, "Cream On Chrome" (XL Recordings)

"We've been up in a beach house in Long Island recording for the past month... We have four or five songs in-the-works," Ratatat guitarist Mike Stroud revealed to Rolling Stone just about four years ago at Coachella 2011 . "It's sounding new — much more aggressive than the last album. Lots of guitar that sounds like guitar, not keyboard," Stroud continued concerning the recording process behind their long-rumored tentatively titled "LP5." "About to play this set at Coachella . Check out our new single "CREAM ON CHROME" [fourth] song of the set," @ratatatmusic nonchalantly, and somewhat cryptically, Tweeted over the weekend preceding their late night Coachella 2015 set . It's Mike Stroud and bassist-percussionist E*vax (Evan Mast) 's first proper single in roughly five years; although an official release date has yet to be announced, Consequence of Sound additionally notes that Ratatat 's new album "wi...

An Alfred Hitchcock Presentation: King Krule - "A Lizard State" (True Panther Sounds)

" Archy [Marshall] and I both love Hitchcock and we've spent a lot of time away from music talking about his films... I had this idea of Hitchcock introducing King Krule . I've seen every episode of Hitchcock Presents and every introduction that he gives is brilliant - you could use any episode and it would work. We loved the idea of Archy defying gravity and that being the setting for his performance," lamented interestingly-named director Jamie-James Medina in a recent True Panther web-press release. "A Lizard State" is only the second single pulled from King Krule 's August-released debut, 6 Feet Beneath The Moon ; modeled after Alfred Hitchcock 's 1954 thriller Dial M for Murder , frontman Archy Marshall appears to be performing in some sort of anti-gravity room. 19-year-old Marshall kinda sounds like a whiskey-soaked Beat-Jazz singer mashed with a slightly misguided Lil' Wayne -like cadence (ie: "You're a bunch of f**king fa...

Tyler, The Creator Presents: King Krule - "Easy, Easy" (True Panther Sounds)

Whether or not it's actually factual, Tyler, The Creator Tweeted: "LISTENING TO LIL B WITH KING KRULE . GAY HUMOR WITH EMINEM . "HOE CAKES" BY MF DOOM LIVE. ALL IN LIKE 72 HOURS. MY LIFE IS SO NASTY!" Saturday evening. It's also worth noting that Odd Future 's semi-mysterious feliciathegoat Instagram handle posted a candid shot of Tyler, Earl & King Krule along with the caption, "OUT GETTING RIBS. GO GET KRULE'S NEW ALBUM, [6 Feet Beneath The Moon] ." 19-year-old King Krule 's just-released album definitely seems to have Tyler, The Creator 's approval; Archy Marshall 's debut album under the "King Krule" moniker was quietly unleashed on his birthday, August 24th, although he's released various projects under a few different now-retired monikers... Zoo Kid , Edgar The Beatmaker, and DJ JD Sports . True Panther/XL Recordings unveiled 2 teaser singles earlier this month, "Easy, Easy" and ...

Sampling Blur & Carly Simon: M.I.A. - "UNBREAK My Mixtape" (Interscope?)

While it's title could easily be a reference to Toni Braxton 's similarly-titled 1996 smash-hit, M.I.A. 's latest [controlled] leak, "UNBREAK My Mixtape" almost seamlessly samples Blur , Carly Simon, Karen Dalton , and Fresh 4 in just under 5 minutes! After nearly a year of 2's-worth of delays and a single threatening Tweet , M.I.A. 's long-awaited fourth studio album Matangi is finally slated for a firm November 5th release. "UNBREAK My Mixtape" might just be The Internet 's fifth taste of Matangi , succeeded by "Only 1 U," "Come Walk with Me," "atTENTion," and possibly even "Bad Girls" (2012). M.I.A. effortlessly floats in-between the rapidly-changing beat(s); lamenting about a lost love and a broken mixtape, "Here's a mixtape that I made, let's take a break... While I get my life sorted, here's a mixtape... What did I do for you to call me crazy?" M.I.A. seems pretty ...

Bandcamp Leak or Pirated Booty?: Jai Paul - "Jai Paul CD-R"(16-track Album)

Jai Paul is a painfully mysterious British-Indian singer-songwriter/ producer who's really only released 2-3 tracks since signing with XL Recordings in 2010: "BTSTU," "Jasmine," and "Flip Out" (Str8 Outta Mumbai). Paul's forward-thinking brand of Space R&B has been embraced by Drake , Beyoncé, rapper XV , and he even appeared on Big Boi 's recent solo album, Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors . Practically out of nowhere, during Coachella 's weekend-spanning festivities, Jai Paul quietly uploaded his long-rumored self-titled debut album/mixtape to Bandcamp . It's selling for 7 GBP's, which converts to about $10.35 or "Name Your Price" and that gets your a download folder containing 16 untitled tracks. Jai Paul CD-R kinda sounds like a mixed bag full of rough demos, fully fleshed out songs, and random skits; Track titles have been speculated to include "Baby Beats," "A Thousand Light-Years ...

But We've Got The Luck of a Kennedy: Vampire Weekend - "Diane Young" (Saab Stories)

Vampire Weekend successfully managed to engage car enthusiasts nation-wide after torching 2 Saab 900's for use in their "Diane Young" [promo] video; It's unclear what kind of condition the cars were in when Vampire Weekend 's team acquired the used vehicles. The Internet -savvy gearheads @ Jalopnik even penned a heated article titled "Vampire Weekend Are a Bunch of Dicks," which essentially calls out the band. Refuting claims that the 2 Saabs were sold under sketchy circumstances and "torched like a pile of leaves," frontman Ezra Koenig blessed Spinner with quite a few choice words/quotes: "I want people to understand that we do respect cars and the last thing we want to do is to fuck up a collector's item or something like that. Hopefully people believe me when I say that our record label was trying to purchase the cheapest, oldest cars possible; They weren't trying to buy a beautiful perfect condition car." Koeni...

Dreams Money Can Buy: Jai Paul - "Jasmine" (Acid Jazz-R&B, XL 2012 Demo)

Jai Paul is a mysterious London -based singer-songwriter & producer who basically has one sole, albeit wide-spread claim to fame: "BTSTU" (2012). Upon it's initial XL Recordings -fueled release, the track quickly blasted atop many online music blogs' year-end lists; Paul's melodies were even sampled by a few popular artists: Drake , Beyoncé, XV, Pusha-T , and Intuition . When I contacted Holly @ Air Force London ("other shit") back on 11/8-11/2011, she simply replied saying that " Jai [Paul] will be releasing his next single in the New Year and the album will some sometime after, please stay tuned." The Indie blog community as a whole, I included, has yet to hear a peep from either Jai Paul or Air Force London since "BTSTU." But man, that all changed late yesterday afternoon, right as the weekend was beginning to start... seemingly out of nowhere, Jai Paul uploaded a BRAND NEW [demo] track, "Jasmine" to XL Rec...
